Suzy's journey with fitness has been a long and varied one, shaped by different stages of life, different challenges and, ultimately, a love of movement that has brought her to Pilates. She discovered a passion for sport from a young age through competitive swimming, which continued throughout her teenage years. She later joined her university rowing team, experiencing first-hand the discipline, strength and commitment that come with training as part of a team. After university, Suzy spent 15 years working in the corporate world as a Project Manager, while she explored many different forms of exercise, from aerobics and kickboxing to weightlifting, always enjoying the challenge of pushing herself and learning more. After having her first child, Suzy decided to turn her passion for fitness into something more and trained as a Fitness Instructor. Following the birth of her second child, she became interested in bodybuilding and immersed herself in strength training. While she loved the challenge and discipline, over time she began to feel the impact of the intensity on her joints and started looking for a form of exercise that could challenge her in a different way. That search led to Pilates — and she fell in love with it. Suzy says "I discovered that Pilates could be incredibly challenging while also being empowering, motivating and kind to the body. It taught me that movement isn't simply about how much we can lift, how fast we can go or how hard we can push ourselves. It's about understanding our bodies, learning how they move and developing the control and awareness to manage them well." Suzy truly believes that Pilates is a gift, and one that should be shared. Her aim as an instructor is to help others discover that same sense of connection, strength and confidence. She wants her classes to challenge and motivate people, while helping them understand their body as the incredible machine it is. For Suzy, teaching someone how their body moves, how to work with it and how to look after it is one of the greatest gifts she can ever impart. "Pilates has given me that gift, and I feel incredibly lucky to be able to share it with others." We feel so lucky to have Suzy teaching at The Pilates Clinic.
